The Student Climate Survey is a 6-item survey with 2 items each for 3 dimensions of climate: sense of safety, sense of belonging, and instructional support.
In the Climate Survey for SELweb Early Elementary (SELweb EE), students hear two characters read sets of opposing statements about the key dimensions of school climate - sense of safety, belonging, and instructional support - and subsequently select the statement that they relate to the most.
For example, Comet will say “ I feel safe at school” and Bear will say “I don’t feel safe at school”. Then, students will select which dog they agree with the most.
Then, they will see a second screen asking how true the statement is for them - either “A little true” or “A lot true”.
The Climate Survey in SELweb Late Elementary (SELweb LE) is a traditional self-report survey where students read statements about the key dimensions of school climate - sense of safety, belonging, and instructional support - and select how much they relate to the statement from “Not at all true” to “Extremely true”.
This survey is an optional survey and may be added to SELweb EE or SELweb LE.
Please notify the xSEL Labs team if you would like to add this survey. Once the survey is added, the survey will be automatically appended to the end of either the SELweb EE or SELweb LE assessment so that after students have finished taking their SELweb assessments, they will automatically begin the Student Climate Survey.
